Middleware
Engineering analytics platform that measures team effectiveness via DORA metrics
Overview
Middleware is an open-source engineering analytics platform that connects to GitHub, GitLab, and Jira to compute DORA metrics (deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, time to restore). It surfaces cycle time breakdowns, PR review bottlenecks, and sprint velocity to help engineering leaders make data-driven decisions. Deployment is Docker-based and the platform is designed for on-premise use in security-conscious organizations.
Where it falls short of Google Analytics
- Focused exclusively on engineering metrics; not a general-purpose product or user analytics tool
- Integration list is limited to Git hosting platforms and Jira — no PagerDuty or incident-management connectors yet
- Trend and benchmark data requires a sufficiently long history of merged PRs to be meaningful
- No alerting or notification system for metric regressions
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
