Overview

Maybe is a polished open-source personal finance application originally built as a commercial SaaS that was later open-sourced. It provides net-worth tracking, investment portfolio views, and transaction management with a beautiful React/Rails UI. Self-hosted via Docker Compose with a PostgreSQL backend.

Where it falls short of Mint

  • Automatic bank sync (Plaid integration) requires API keys and third-party costs
  • Investment data import limited compared to dedicated portfolio trackers
  • Multi-user household support is still being developed

We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
