Langfuse
Open-source LLM observability and evaluation platform for tracing AI application calls
Overview
Langfuse provides tracing, prompt management, evaluation, and cost analytics for LLM applications. It integrates with LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI SDK, and raw API calls via SDKs for Python, JavaScript, and more. The self-hosted version uses Docker Compose with PostgreSQL and ClickHouse for analytics.
Where it falls short of OpenAI API
- Some advanced evaluation and annotation features are cloud-only
- ClickHouse dependency adds significant infrastructure overhead
- No built-in alerting or on-call integrations
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
