AnythingLLM

All-in-one local AI app with RAG, agents, and no-code agent builder

62k Nodejs MIT today

Overview

AnythingLLM is a desktop and Docker application that combines document-based RAG, AI agents, a no-code agent workflow builder, and MCP compatibility in a single package. It supports dozens of LLM backends (Ollama, OpenAI, Claude, etc.) and vector databases (ChromaDB, Pinecone, etc.). Users can create workspaces, upload documents, and build automated agent pipelines without writing code.

Where it falls short of ChatGPT

  • Multi-user team collaboration features are gated behind the paid cloud/enterprise tier
  • Web search integration is basic compared to dedicated AI search tools
  • No native mobile client; desktop app only for native installs
  • Large document ingestion can be slow without GPU-accelerated embedding

We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
