Overview
Your Spotify is a self-hosted web application that connects to the Spotify API to continuously record your listening history and presents it through a rich analytics dashboard. It tracks per-song, per-artist, and per-album play counts, listening time, and trends over time. The stack is Node.js (API) + React (frontend) + MongoDB, deployed via Docker Compose. A Spotify developer app registration is required to authorize data access.
Where it falls short of Tableau
- Limited to Spotify data only; no support for other music services
- Requires setting up a Spotify developer app and OAuth credentials
- No custom alerting, reports, or data export features
- MongoDB dependency adds operational overhead compared to simpler dashboards
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
