Yarr
Lightweight web-based RSS reader usable as desktop app or personal server
Overview
Yarr (yet another rss reader) is a compact Go application that doubles as both a local desktop RSS client and a self-hosted server. It bundles the entire UI into a single binary with no external dependencies, stores data in SQLite, and provides a clean reading interface with keyboard shortcuts and dark mode. The binary can be launched directly or served behind a reverse proxy.
Where it falls short of Feedly
- No user accounts; designed for single-user personal use only
- No API for third-party mobile clients or integrations
- Minimal configuration options; no plugins or extension support
- No content archiving, offline snapshots, or annotations
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
