Stalwart XMPP
Modern all-in-one XMPP server with web admin panel written in Rust
Overview
Stalwart XMPP is a modern, standards-compliant XMPP server written in Rust that bundles an admin web interface, HTTP file upload, push notifications, and TURN relay into a single binary. It supports the latest XMPP extensions required for feature-rich mobile clients and emphasizes security with built-in rate limiting and abuse prevention. Configuration can be done through the web UI without editing config files.
Where it falls short of Slack
- Younger project with a smaller community and less battle-tested than Prosody or Ejabberd
- No native web chat client included; users need a third-party XMPP app
- Clustering and high-availability support is still maturing
