Sendy

Self-hosted email newsletter app that sends via Amazon SES

100 PHP Proprietary 1 month ago

Overview

Sendy is a PHP-based newsletter application specifically designed to leverage Amazon SES for bulk email delivery at very low cost. It supports list management, autoresponders, custom fields, and per-brand accounts. Note: Sendy itself is a paid one-time-purchase app, but it is self-hosted.

Where it falls short of Mailchimp

  • Requires paid one-time license fee; not truly open source
  • Tightly coupled to AWS SES, limiting provider flexibility
  • No built-in visual email builder; limited automation

We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
