Deployment methods in the catalogue
Counts are projects carrying each exact deployment label. A project can appear in more than one row.
Docker and deployment packaging by category
Categories are ranked by the number of projects offering Docker or Docker Compose. Shares use each category’s project total.
How counted
Multi-label counting. Each project contributes once to every exact deployment label in its `deployOptions` array. The combined Docker figure includes a project when it carries `Docker` or `Docker Compose`.
Shares. Every share uses the relevant project total as its denominator. Because deployment labels are multi-label, method shares can overlap and do not need to sum to 100%.
Snapshot. Figures use live listings returned by getListings({ status: 'live', sort: 'stars', limit: 1000 }) and are calculated at render time. The snapshot date is Sep 19, 2026. The Source CSV contains the catalogue rows behind these counts.

FAQ
What counts as Docker self-hosting in this report?
A project counts as Docker self-hosting when its exact deployment labels include Docker or Docker Compose. 485 of 543 live projects (89.3%) meet that definition in the Sep 19, 2026 snapshot.
Why do the deployment shares add up to more than 100%?
Projects can carry multiple deployment labels at the same time. A project may support Docker Compose, Kubernetes, and Manual deployment, so each method share uses the full project count as its denominator and the shares are not mutually exclusive.
What is the difference between Docker and Docker Compose here?
Docker is counted only when the exact Docker label is present. Docker Compose is counted only when the exact Docker Compose label is present. The combined Docker or Docker Compose figure includes either label.
How often is this Docker statistics snapshot updated?
The page calculates its figures from the live OpenAlt catalogue at render time. This snapshot is dated Sep 19, 2026; the downloadable catalog CSV is the source for the listed projects and deployment labels.
