Modoboa
Web-based mail hosting platform with modern UI for managing domains and accounts
Overview
Modoboa is a Python/Django-based mail hosting and administration platform that provides a clean web interface for managing email domains, mailboxes, aliases, and quotas on top of Postfix and Dovecot. It supports multi-domain and multi-admin setups, a user self-service portal, and optional plugins for webmail, statistics, and DKIM management. Installation is via pip or Docker, and it integrates with PostgreSQL or MySQL as the backend database.
Where it falls short of Mailchimp
- Still depends on external Postfix and Dovecot daemons; not truly all-in-one
- Webmail plugin (Rainloop/SOGo) requires separate configuration
- No bulk mailing or newsletter campaign features
- Documentation can be incomplete for advanced plugin setups
