Huginn
Self-hosted agents that monitor and act on your behalf, an IFTTT/Zapier alternative
Overview
Huginn is a system for building agents that perform automated tasks online: they watch for events, scrape and parse the web, and take actions on your behalf. It is a long-standing, fully open-source, self-hosted alternative to IFTTT and Zapier, with data kept entirely on your own server. Configuration is more technical than modern no-code tools, but it is highly flexible.
Where it falls short of Zapier
- No visual drag-and-drop builder; agents are configured via JSON forms, which is far less approachable than Zapier.
- Development has slowed considerably; releases are infrequent.
- Few first-class SaaS connectors compared to commercial iPaaS catalogs.
- Rails plus MySQL/Postgres setup makes self-hosting more involved than newer tools.
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
