Overview
Netflix Conductor is a platform for orchestrating microservices and long-running workflows at scale. Workflows are defined as JSON/YAML task graphs and executed by polyglot workers written in any language. It supports complex branching, parallel execution, and human task steps, and was battle-tested at Netflix before being open-sourced via conductor-oss.
Where it falls short of Zapier
- Workflow logic defined in JSON/YAML; no drag-and-drop canvas for non-technical users
- Requires Elasticsearch and a relational DB for production — non-trivial infrastructure
- Community edition lacks built-in RBAC available in the commercial Orkes Cloud offering
