Overview
Homarr is a modern self-hosted dashboard designed for homelab users, featuring a fully web-based drag-and-drop editor, dozens of built-in service integrations (arr suite, Pi-hole, Proxmox, etc.), and a polished UI with dark mode and customizable widgets. Version 1.x introduced multi-user authentication and a PostgreSQL-backed architecture. It deploys via Docker or Docker Compose with optional persistent volumes.
Where it falls short of Tableau
- No BI-style data visualization, SQL queries, or chart-building features
- v1.x migration from v0.x requires manual data migration steps
- Integration library narrower than proprietary enterprise dashboards
- No alerting or on-call notification system built in
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
