Overview
Heimdall is a PHP-based application dashboard that provides a visually appealing launchpad for your self-hosted services. It supports Enhanced Apps — pre-built integrations that pull live data (e.g., download stats, API counts) directly into the tile. It stores data in a SQLite database and can be deployed via Docker or a traditional LAMP stack. LinuxServer.io maintains the Docker image with regular updates.
Where it falls short of Tableau
- No business analytics, charts, or data visualization
- No native multi-user support with role-based access
- Enhanced App integrations limited to a pre-defined list with no custom plugin API
- No alerting or on-call escalation for service outages
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
