Overview
Glance is a self-hosted personal dashboard written in Go that aggregates RSS feeds, Reddit posts, Hacker News, weather, stocks, bookmarks, and more into a single configurable page. It is configured via YAML and served as a single static binary, making deployment extremely lightweight. The UI is clean and responsive, with multiple widget types and layout options. Deploy with a single Docker run command or a compose file.
Where it falls short of Tableau
- No built-in database or persistent data store; purely a read/aggregation layer
- No multi-user support or access control
- No data source connectors for business databases or warehouses (unlike Tableau/Power BI)
- No interactive charts, pivot tables, or drill-down analytics
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
