FreshRSS
Self-hostable RSS aggregator with a clean multi-user web interface
Overview
FreshRSS is a mature, feature-rich RSS and Atom feed aggregator written in PHP. It supports multiple users, OPML import/export, keyboard shortcuts, and a Fever-compatible API so clients like Reeder and NetNewsWire can connect to it. Installation can be done via Docker or a traditional LAMP stack, and a live demo is publicly accessible.
Where it falls short of Feedly
- No AI-driven article recommendations or smart filtering like Feedly Pro
- Read-later queue is basic; no article annotation or highlight export
- Mobile experience relies on third-party apps via the API rather than first-party apps
- Newsletter-to-RSS and email digest features absent
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
