Overview
Dashy is a highly customizable self-hosted dashboard for homelab and personal use, configured via YAML with an optional built-in web editor. It supports hundreds of icons, themes, widgets, status checks, and search providers. Authentication is optional and built-in. Dashy is built with Vue.js and can be deployed via Docker or served as a static site. It includes a live status checking system that pings configured services.
Where it falls short of Tableau
- No analytical data visualization, BI queries, or database connectivity
- Multi-user support is basic; no proper RBAC or team workspaces
- Service auto-discovery requires manual YAML entries; no Docker auto-detection like Homepage
- Not suitable for business reporting or data-driven dashboards
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
