Conduit
Blazing fast Matrix homeserver written in Rust for small communities
Overview
Conduit is a lightweight, resource-efficient Matrix homeserver implemented in Rust that is designed for small to medium communities wanting Matrix federation without the heavy resource requirements of Synapse. It uses a sled or rocksdb embedded database, requiring no external PostgreSQL server. A single binary with minimal configuration is sufficient to join the federated Matrix network.
Where it falls short of Slack
- Does not yet support all Matrix room versions or advanced federation features
- No built-in web client; needs Element or another client
- Bridges to other networks (Slack, Discord) require separate bridge services
