Overview
Typebot is an open-source conversational app builder that lets you create interactive chat-based forms, surveys, and lead capture flows with a visual drag-and-drop editor. It supports conditional logic, native integrations with Webhook, Google Sheets, Notion, Mailchimp, and more, and embeds as a bubble, popup, or inline widget on any site. It deploys via Docker Compose and includes a hosted viewer and result analytics dashboard.
Where it falls short of Slack
- Focused on conversational forms/chatbots, not team messaging; does not replace Slack for internal communication.
- Self-hosted version lacks some cloud-only integrations and the AI block that requires an OpenAI key.
- No native payment processing; requires Stripe integration setup separately.
- Result export and advanced analytics are more limited than Typeform's paid tiers.
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
