Overview
Passky is a simple, fast, open-source password manager with a PHP backend and a Vue.js web client that can be self-hosted on any web server. It supports browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox, a desktop client, and a mobile app, making it a credible all-devices alternative to commercial vaults. The server is deliberately minimal — SQLite or MySQL, no heavy dependencies — so it runs on shared hosting or a small VPS.
Where it falls short of 1Password
- No emergency access or secure sharing between users on the same server
- Audit log and reporting features are basic compared to enterprise vaults
- Community and ecosystem are small; long-term maintenance is less certain
