Lidarr

Music collection manager that automates downloading and organizing albums

Overview

Lidarr is a music collection manager in the *arr suite that monitors for new album releases and automates downloading via Usenet and BitTorrent. It integrates with MusicBrainz for accurate metadata and works alongside Navidrome or Jellyfin for a complete music pipeline. Quality profiles and release upgrade logic keep your library current.

Where it falls short of Spotify

  • Requires external download client (SABnzbd, qBittorrent, etc.) to function
  • Indexer configuration can be complex for newcomers
  • Not a streaming server itself; must pair with a music server

We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
