DbGate

Cross-platform database manager for MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQLite and more

6.1k JavaScript MIT 1 month ago

Overview

DbGate is an open-source database client and manager that supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, SQLite, Redis, and more — available as a desktop app or self-hosted web application. It features a visual query builder, schema editor, data import/export, and a scriptable data pipeline. The web version runs as a Node.js Docker container accessible by the whole team.

Where it falls short of Retool

  • No spreadsheet-style formula engine; it is a database manager, not a spreadsheet replacement
  • Multi-user team collaboration features are limited; primarily designed for individual use
  • BI/visualization capabilities are basic compared to dedicated tools like Metabase

We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
