APITable
API-oriented low-code database and Airtable alternative with real-time collaboration
Overview
APITable is an open-source, API-first low-code platform for building collaborative apps on top of a visual database. It provides Airtable-style grid, kanban, gallery, gantt, and form views, real-time collaboration, embeddable widgets, and an automation engine. The project is AGPL-licensed and self-hostable, though active development has slowed.
Where it falls short of Airtable
- Development has slowed significantly; commits and releases are infrequent.
- Self-hosting is heavy (Java backend, multiple services) and resource-hungry.
- Documentation for self-hosting is uneven and can be hard to follow.
- Smaller integration ecosystem than Airtable, and some features are cloud-only.
We list the gaps honestly so you can decide if the trade-off is worth owning your data.
